Festival shop volunteering
Welcome to the Oxfam Festival Shop! We are a travelling pop-up shop based at Wastesaver, Oxfam’s Textile Recycling Centre in West Yorkshire. For each festival, we hand-select the best and most appropriate stock for that customer base as well as festival essentials for all weathers; such as waterproofs, jumpers, wellies, flip flops and sunglasses.
To apply to volunteer with the Oxfam Festival Shop you must be:
- a current Oxfam Shop Volunteer/Intern/Member of Staff with at least three months experience; or,
- have volunteered at two or more festivals or events with the Oxfam Festival Shop in the past three years.
We cannot process applications that do not meet these criteria. When applying, you will need to provide details for a reference and these must include your Oxfam Manager’s Oxfam email address. Please let your Manager know, so they can look out for an email confirming your Oxfam experience.
Once we have received a satisfactory Oxfam reference, you will have an informal telephone interview. We will explain the timeframes for sending out festival confirmation or waiting list emails and onsite information. Travel expenses cannot be reimbursed.
Festival Shop Volunteers are required onsite before and after each festival to help with the shop set-up and pack-down. When the festival is open to the public, you will do one 6 hour shift each day. Your shift times will rotate between a morning (9am – 3pm), an afternoon (3pm – 9pm) and an evening (9pm – late) shift. Shop activities include restocking, talking about Oxfam’s work to customers, cash handling and changing the shop stock depending on the time of day and weather.
We love selling amazing second-hand fashion, keeping customers warm and dry, while raising vital funds in our fight against global poverty. We hope you will join us!
