While the high street remains closed, we’re working to help our amazing volunteers feel supported and connected to the Oxfam community.
If you’re a volunteer in an Oxfam shop, here’s how you can get involved…
1. Join our ‘Oxfam Shop Volunteer Community’ group on Facebook
This new Oxfam Shop Volunteer Community Facebook group aims to link up volunteers from across our network so that we can inspire and support one another during these challenging times. We will also use this as a space to share updates on Oxfam’s work, activity ideas and resources, all of which you can take part in from your own home.Request to join the Oxfam Shop Volunteer Community Facebook group
2. Telephone check-ins
Our team are currently working to call as many of our volunteers as we can for an informal check in. If your phone number is not on our records, or you haven’t yet received a call but would like to speak to us, you can call our Shop Support line at any time during working hours on 0300 200 1333. Our team will do our best to answer any questions you may have in line with the information that is currently available.
3. Wellbeing pack
We understand that the current unprecedented circumstances could pose a number of heightened or new challenges to our volunteers. That’s why we have created this free handy wellbeing pack. The pack is full of ideas to help boost your emotional and physical wellbeing whilst spending more time at home.
4. Free training sessions and webinars
Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing a series of free trainings and webinars for our volunteers. These sessions will focus on empowering our volunteers with new skills to utilise in their roles once shops re-open, and informing our network about our current projects and campaigns around the world. To receive updates on our upcoming sessions, you can join our Facebook group. Alternatively, we will soon be launching our new volunteer newsletter which will include information on events. Check back on this page you’re reading now for updates on how you can sign up.
5. Follow some of our top tips for changing the world from home!
We recently posted an update on how you can still help people impacted by COVID-19, all from your own home – from setting up your own fundraiser to using our home-learning resources for parents, guardians and teachers.
