Volunteering at Festivals
If you missed out on a Glastonbury ticket, stewarding is a great way to enjoy some of the best festivals in the U.K! But, how does it work?
During the festival week you will be asked to complete 3 x 8hr shifts. You will usually be asked to attend from the Wednesday to the Monday and shifts run day times, evening and nights. Our roles on site see you providing directions to the public, checking wristbands, monitoring crowds, manning gates, entrances and exits, and directing traffic. In between shifts the rest of the time is yours to enjoy and meet up with your friends. Volunteering with Oxfam is also a great way to meet new people, many people travel solo, and of all ages, so there is a friendly community on hand to explore everything the festival has to offer.

To get prepared for your application you will need:
- Access to the internet to apply online
- A unique email address
- A digital photo (passport style)
- To provide a referee email address
- Complete some basic information about yourself
- Your bank details to provide a one-off refundable deposit equal to the price of the festival ticket
You will also be provided with training before you arrive on-site. We ask for you to select a day for training within your application, this is a few hours, face to face session, and there are also some spaces available to train online. The training must be completed before you can join us at any festival and we ask for this to be topped up every 4 years. There are also lots of very experienced volunteers who can show you the ropes.
There are loads of benefits to volunteering with Oxfam. You have your own campsite with other like minded crew and volunteers, hot tea and coffee, phone charging, showers and meal vouchers for each shift. A marquee in the campsite often acts as a meeting point and a great way to meet new friends. A one off deposit gives you access to over 20 festivals. Each festival you complete helps us in our fight against global poverty.
A full festival list will be available early next year, but can you review 2018 festivals here
