Oxfam shop in Troon urgently seeking volunteers

The Oxfam shop in Troon is urgently seeking volunteers to help with stock management and to serve customers in the run up to Christmas.

The store, at 49 Academy Street, relies on volunteers to help run the shop to support Oxfam’s lifesaving work around the world. The holiday season is a particularly busy time for the shop, and making the most of the festive rush is vital to maximise the funds it raises for Oxfam’s work to fight poverty both at home and overseas.

Oxfam Troon shop manager Lorraine Findlay said: “We have received lots of donations recently, which we’re really grateful for. This is a very generous community.

“But we really need more volunteers to help us make the most of the fantastic stock we’ve got, and make as much money as possible for Oxfam’s work. Whether it’s working on the shop floor and till, sorting stock, or applying any expertise they might have, we’d be grateful for any time that volunteers can give.”

Jacqui Rolston, 34, who has been an Oxfam volunteer for two years said: “I’m so happy I joined the team at the Oxfam shop in Troon. I’ve made many new friends and we all have a fun time working as volunteers.

“Do come and join us – it’s great to know that we are all helping those in desperate need.”

Whether you’ve got plenty of time to spare or just a few hours, the Oxfam shop in Troon wants to hear from you. Giving up your time is only part of the story – volunteering with Oxfam is a great way to build your skills and confidence, make friends as part of a team, and of course to play your part in Oxfam’s global mission to end poverty.

To find out more or volunteer your time, contact the Troon shop on 01292 317712 or just pop in to have a chat and collect an application form. More information on volunteering with Oxfam can be found at www.oxfam.org.uk/get-involved
