Oxfam’s shop in Milngavie has issued an urgent appeal for more volunteers to help it get back to business when it re-opens following a shop re-fit.

The store, at 40 Main Street, will be closed from Saturday 8 April for around three weeks to carry out the refurbishment. Members of the public are being encouraged to hang on to any items they’re hoping to donate until after the store re-opens, or to alternatively take them to Oxfam’s next nearest shop in Bearsden.

In advance of the shop re-opening, the store team is urging people interested in volunteering to visit the Oxfam website: oxfam.org.uk/jointheteam

Kenny McGregor, manager of Oxfam’s Milngavie store, said: “The money raised by the dedicated staff and volunteers in our shop helps to fight poverty and injustice around the world; providing people with lifesaving essentials like clean water and soap as well as the hope of a better future.

“We really need more hands on deck to help us make the most of the generous donations we’ve received, so we’re encouraging people from all walks of life who want to live in a fairer, more sustainable world to consider giving one of the greatest gifts of all: their time.”

Volunteers are asked to give as little as a few hours a week of their time and can take up a range of vital roles, from serving customers to sorting donations.
