Oxfam’s Victoria Road shop is opening its doors after hours for a special fundraising event aimed at supporting relief efforts for the ongoing Gaza crisis.

The event, featuring live music, snacks, and a raffle, will take place on Friday 12 July at 7 PM. Tickets are priced at just £5, making it an affordable night out for a great cause.

Guests will be treated to live performances by local bands Frank’s House, Dale McPhail and Étáin, who are generously donating their time and talent.

In the most recent escalation of violence in a crisis spanning decades, over 37,000 people have been killed in the relentless military offensive in Gaza.

Funding is needed urgently for Oxfam teams and partners in Gaza to support people to survive right now, and so we can increase this vital support as soon as it’s safe and possible to do so.

Oxfam is calling for the new UK Government to do everything in its power to help secure an immediate and permanent ceasefire: to end the death and destruction, allow more aid get to those that desperately need it and enable the safe release of hostages.

Michelle Layden, who manages the shop, thanked the local businesses, bakeries and florists who have generously supported the fundraiser. She said: “Our shop has always been a hub for community and support which is why we have decided to host this event to raise much-needed funds for the Gaza crisis.

“People in Gaza need virtually everything; emergency shelters, food, water, and medicine. We need to raise vital funds so that Oxfam can provide life-saving aid now and scale up this support when it is safe and possible to do so.

“We are incredibly grateful to Frank’s House, Dale McPhail and Étáin for their enthusiastic participation, and to our community for their unwavering support for and solidarity with people in Gaza.”

Performer Dale McPhail added: “I’m excited to perform at this event because it brings our community together to support such a meaningful cause. It’s a wonderful opportunity for all of us to unite, share joy through music, and make a positive impact together.”

Tickets are limited, so don’t miss your chance to enjoy a night of great music and good company while making a difference. Purchase your tickets today at Oxfam’s Victoria Road shop.

Thanks to the generous support of local businesses, the shop will be holding a second raffle to mark its first birthday at the end of the month. More details will be announced nearer the time.
