Do you want to be part of an innovative three-year project which has the potential to have major impact on addressing food insecurity in Scotland?
Oxfam Scotland, the Poverty Alliance, Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) in Scotland and Nourish Scotland are recruiting a project team for our new partnership project ‘A Menu for Change’.
A Menu for Change, funded by the Big Lottery Fund Scotland, seeks to reduce the need for and reliance on emergency food aid in Scotland. The project will identify and work intensively in three local authorities with the aim of evolving the response to food insecurity. The project seeks to ensure that when people do experience acute income and food crisis they receive an improved response which meets their immediate need whilst also addressing the underlying causes to prevent recurrence. Central to our approach
will be promoting more dignified ways of support such as enhancing access to cash through the UK and Scottish social security systems, welfare rights advice, and healthy food in community-based settings. The project also aims to contribute to the longer-term prevention of food insecurity through additional research, national advocacy and community engagement activities. The project staff team will be based across and employed by the four partner organisations.
The following roles will be based at Oxfam Scotland in Glasgow
- An exceptional Project Manager to lead our exciting and innovative three-year project. With a strong background in managing complex projects, involving multiple partners and stakeholders, you will be able to operate effectively within a matrix team environment, leading a team of at least six project staff. You will be able to work to challenging deadlines and manage your own workload without close supervision, making decisions and problem-solving on routine, new and complex problems with clarity and leadership. - An experienced Research & Policy professional with a strong background in data collection and analysis that can inform policy and programming. You will be skilled in using a variety of qualitative and participatory research methods, and in working with a range of research subjects. We will expect you to have strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate to a variety of audiences on complex issues, and the ability to make data accessible and useable by non-specialists. - An exceptional Project Assistant to join our A Menu for Change project team. You will have at least two year’s experience in a project support role within the private or third sector which has involved administration, finance, monitoring and event co-ordination duties. As well as your functional experience, you will also be an enthusiastic, confident, and highly organised individual, with a passion for delivering excellent levels of service at all times. You will have strong written and oral communications skills, drive and energy, and excel in paying

The following role will be based at The Poverty Alliance in Glasgow
- An experienced Project Officer with a strong background in the use of a variety of participatory methods of learning and an in depth understanding of the nature and scale of food insecurity in Scotland. You will have an in-depth understanding of poverty in Scotland and the role of social security in tackling poverty and food insecurity. You will be able to operate effectively within a matrix (i.e. across organisations) team environment, be able to work to challenging deadlines and manage your own workload, whilst making decisions and problem solving on

The following role will be based at Child Poverty Action Group in Glasgow
- An experienced Project Officer with a strong background in the use of a variety of participatory methods of learning and an in depth understanding of the benefits system and the social security rights of households at risk of food insecurity. You will have an in-depth understanding of poverty in Scotland, the role of social security in tackling poverty, and issues of food insecurity. You will be able to operate effectively within a matrix (i.e. across organisations) team environment, be able to work to challenging deadlines and manage your own workload,

- Two experienced Project Officers with a strong background in the use of a variety of participatory methods of learning and an in depth understanding of community food policy and practice as a response to food insecurity. You will have an in-depth understanding of poverty in Scotland, the role of social security in tackling poverty, and issues of food insecurity. You will be able to operate effectively within a matrix (i.e. across organisations) team environment, be able to work to challenging deadlines and manage your own workload, whilst making decisions
