Candidate Cafe events in each of Scotland’s eight electoral regions

The Scottish election in May 2016 creates an opportunity for every political party to commit to creating a more equal Scotland within a more equal world.

Oxfam cares about economic inequality because it is a barrier to reducing poverty. In October, Oxfam outlined our policy priorities for the Scottish Parliament both now and beyond the election – you can read our policy paper here.

We know the Scottish Parliament can’t do everything, but it can do more.

In the run-up to these important elections, we’re giving you the chance to chat to local political candidates about the issues that matter to you.

Oxfam is holding Candidate Cafe events in each of Scotland’s eight electoral regions. One candidate from each of the five main parties currently represented at the Scottish Parliament will be there chatting to members of the public.

As a charity, Oxfam is strictly non-party political. By registering to attend this event, participants agree to act with respect towards all candidates and fellow members of the public.

Please note: the format is designed to encourage conversations between members of the public and candidates from the five parties currently represented in the Scottish Parliament.  The political candidates will not be debating their respective policy positions with each other.

Oxfam Scotland is proud to host these events in partnership with Stop Climate Chaos Scotland (SCCS).

Parties invited to send a candidate to these events are: Scottish Conservatives, Scottish Greens, Scottish Labour, Scottish Liberal Democrats and Scottish National Party (the five parties currently represented at the Scottish Parliament). A list of other political parties and candidates standing in the relevant electoral region will be on display at the events and these candidates will have the opportunity to provide materials which will be made available at the events.
