Oxfam Cymru partner shortlisted for Lloyds Community Fund

Duffryn Community Link, Oxfam Cymru’s partner in Newport, has been selected for the shortlist of Lloyds Community Fund 2013

The Fund provides grants to support local good causes across England and Wales and is inviting the public to vote for the shortlisted charities until 1 November.

Anyone can vote at any Lloyds branch, online at https://www.lloydsbankfoundation.org.uk/  or by texting VOTE KMPC to 61119.

Duffryn Community Link has been at the heart of the community  in Tredegar Park ward for over 10 years and has grown into an organisation that runs social enterprises and supports people in a wide range of ways. They are hoping the Fund will provide £3,000 to enable them to retain staff.

Oxfam Cymru’s  Livelihoods project in Duffryn works with disadvantaged families on the estate by helping people to take control of their lives and overcome crises.

Chris Johnes, director of Oxfam’s UK Poverty Project says: “We are very proud of the work that Duffyrn Community Link is doing. They have changed lives and saved lives. I urge you to take moment and give them the vote they so richly deserve.”

The Livelihoods Project is supported by the Big Lottery Fund Wales.
