Rhian Anderson talks about her work on an Oxfam Cymru UK Poverty Programme near Pontypridd where she works with vulnerable families who have children in local primary schools.
Just had my first quarterly visit from Oxfam and I am pleased with how it went. I think they were happy with how I have slotted into Glyncoch Community Regeneration (Oxfam’s partner organisation).
The project felt slow to start with but is gradually building up as more and more projects are coming together .
We are supporting a local baby and toddler Group called Tiny Tiddlers, facilitating family literacy after school sessions, helping the primary school set up a parent council and helping with the facilitation of a support group for parents of children with challenging behaviour and ADHD.
All of these projects will help me engage with families that could benefit from the Sustainable Livelihood Approach and lead me to reaching my targets and making this project a success in Glyncoch – so watch this space!
The Glyncoch project is supported by the Big Lottery Fund Wales and the Unilever Foundation.
